Vision:

To collaborate in the process of developing pastors and church leaders who are faithful to Christ, apt to teach the scriptures, actively expressing God’s love to their community and committed to training others who will do the same.

Ministry:

I am the Field Director for World Reach, Inc. in Honduras. As such I oversee the logistics and ministries of our mission’s activity there. Those ministries include two church plants near the city of Siguatepeque and several sites around the country of our Mobile Bible Institute. My work in our institutes is focused upon adapting our classes for the cultural and technological changes facing the pastors we train, establishing our program in new sites, teaching classes and mentoring student leaders within our program.

Cultural Context:

Honduras is one of the poorest countries in the western hemisphere with more than 60 percent of the population living in poverty (2018). In rural areas, approximately one out of 5 Hondurans live in extreme poverty (less than US$1.90 per day). Another major challenge is the rampant crime and violence due to the activities of gangs and drug cartels which seem to go largely unchecked. Access to elementary education is widespread but less than half the population attends high school. Many of the pastors in our Mobile Bible Institutes are from rural areas. Nearly all of them must work a second job to support their families. Those commitments make it difficult to participate in formal education. Our training programs are strategically designed to meet this challenge.
