After 32 hours of travel, we arrived in Cape Town at 1:00 this morning. All of our flights were on time and all of our luggage arrived…Thank you for your prayers! This morning we met with Pippa from Home From Home, the organization Warren has partnered with here in Cape Town. We then had a chance to go to Khayelitsha and visit the homes we will be working on this week. As you can see, there is a lot of work to be done.
Kay, who has a servant’s heart, didn’t waste any time getting to know Faith, who is one of the foster mums we will be spending time with this week.
This afternoon, we took care of some errands to prepare for the week ahead, including grocery shopping for our lunches. Also, after a close encounter between the side mirror on the van and the gate to the parking garage (of which the gate was victorious,) we stopped by the airport to get a van with an intact side mirror. We then ended our first day in South Africa at a favorite restaurant, GOLD, where we experienced authentic Africa food, singing and drumming.
The verses we are studying in our Mission Journal are Isaiah 30:18-23. We are reminded to continually ask God to “show us the right road and help us to walk it.” We are looking forward in excited anticipation to see what roads God will take us down the next 9 days.
