After a very long plane flight, Team 2 is safely on the ground and in Johannesburg for the night. The trip began on a bit of shaky ground as our Assistant Fearless Leader momentarily left his backpack at WBC. This was easily overcome and we were on our way. The plane flight, while long, was smooth — unless you happened to be one of our two hapless members that sat in the back of the plane — the Lowery’s unwittingly landed on the bad side of the flight attendant, which they also overcame with sweetness. On the plus side, the rest of our group sat by a team of Presbyterians from Atlanta, also heading over for missions. Our green shirts did attract some attention and a few people inquired, one of which was a South African minister. Next, we breezed through customs — many members of our team were actually unaware we had been through customs — but one or two sharp team members caught on to the process. Through it all, Merry Ellen supplied needy team members with Oreos, at times proving Oreos can and do make a difference in life. We are currently cleaning up and bedding down in our hotel for the night, looking forward to beginning tomorrow with devotional….then it’s off, one step closer to our carepoints!
