Fun in the Swazi Sun!

Fun in the Swazi Sun!

Today was “Fun Day” where we have activities and a special meal for the children. We had this special day at both of our care points and half the team went to each care point. We rented a “jumping castle”; we played musical chairs; we taught them how to line dance; painted their faces; we had hula hoop contests; blew bubbles; played ball and just loved on some children. On Fun Day, children from all over the community come to share in this special day. We fed “Chicken Dust” to over 500 children. Chicken Dust is a meal of grilled chicken cooked on the side of the dusty road…thus “Chicken Dust”! The team was busy helping toddlers carry plates that were bigger than themselves. We had to pull the chicken off the bone and place it in the toddler’s mouths because they didn’t know what to do with the chicken. They probably had never seen it before. We gave hoodies, aprons and crochet crosses to the widows who cook for the children. The women at Ruby’s danced around and praised God for their presents.
Our day ended where we gave a large head of cabbage to every child for them to take to their homestead. We wish that we had more pictures but the team was so busy managing all of these children, we didn’t have time to take a breath. We didn’t even have time to eat lunch or go to the restroom.
We ended the day reading the the encouraging comments by friends and family on our blog. It is very comforting to know that so many people are praying and supporting us. Please continue to pray because Mr. Stomach Bug has bitten team member number five!!
