Faithfully Raising the Torch for Christ

Faithfully Raising the Torch for Christ

Over the course of this week, the Boston Mission Team had the privilege to partner with Encounter Church in Westwood, MA to help give back to the community, the church, and the church family.

What did we do?

• We led and assisted in newborn, preschool, and children’s ministries for the Sunday services.
• We prayer walked and picked up trash down the streets and parks of Westwood and Norwood.
• We pulled weeds, spread mulch, and collected garbage around parks, playgrounds, and throughout the community.
• We helped around the church facilities with cleanup and organization, light maintenance, and audio/visual rewiring.
• We blessed several church families by babysitting their children
• We assisted in the complete demolition of Executive Pastor Jason Hodges’ kitchen, bathroom, chimney, and living room ceiling.
Though our hands were dirty and our muscles were sore, it was encouraging to see continuous smiles all around throughout this week. It was incredible to see the power of intentional action, genuine conversation, and an army of matching orange shirts shining a light for God’s love and kingdom.

God is moving in the Boston area, stirring in the hearts of Über drivers, ice cream and Whole Foods customers, and people walking the streets of Westwood and Norwood. Encounter Church is passionately and faithfully raising the torch for Christ, and we are so blessed to have a hand in that. We pray that God further propels Encounter toward leading radical change in this area for His Love and Word.
